Prof. Dr. Şevket Ruacan was born at Ankara in 1945. He graduated from Ankara Bahçelievler Deneme High School in 1962, from West High School ta Phoenix Arizona in 1963 and Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1969. He received graduate trainingin Biochemistry and Pathology at University of Pennsylvania and New York University. At Hacettepe University he served as Chairman of the Department of Pathology, Dean of the Medical School, Director of the Institute of Oncology and Chairman of the Ethics Committee. He became a member of the Higher Education Council (YÖK) and Science Board of Technical and Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK). Between 2009-2014 he was the Founding Dean of Koç University School of Medicine. Since 2014 he is a faculty member of the medical school.
